Bessie’s Bladder Stone Removal Surgery

This sweet, shy girl is Bessie. Last year, she began having difficulty urinating and was diagnosed with bladder stones. Despite trying multiple medications, prescription diets, and other therapies, her symptoms didn’t significantly improve, so surgery was recommended to remove the stones, a procedure called a cystotomy.

The surgery at Anicira was successful, and an important next step followed: the stones were sent out for laboratory analysis. Not all bladder stones are the same, and identifying the exact type helps the veterinary team understand why they formed and how best to prevent them from returning. These results guide long-term care, including diet, medications, and a monitoring plan tailored specifically to Bessie.

We’re happy to report that, according to her Mom, “Bessie is doing wonderfully!” We always appreciate hearing updates like this!
