During the winter of 2007, a man walked through a snowstorm to Anicira’s clinic. Though we were closed, a staff member let him in. He shared that he had fallen on hard times and his pets hadn’t eaten in days. We made sure his pets were fed—and since then, we’ve helped hundreds of others avoid hunger through our Pet Food Pantry.
Anicira’s Pet Food Pantry provides free cat and dog food to families experiencing hardship and is located at 206 South Avenue, Harrisonburg, VA 22801. New and existing clients may drop in during the following weekly hours:
Pantry Hours (open on the same days every week):
Tuesdays: 3 PM – 6 PM
Wednesdays: 3 PM – 6 PM
Thursdays: 9 AM – 12 PM
How it works:
-
Visit during any of our set weekly hours—no appointment needed, drop in when convenient
-
Hours are the same every week
-
Each household may receive food once per month. The amount provided is intended to last until your next monthly visit
New clients will complete a brief application and waiver to verify eligibility. Applications must be completed and approved before food can be received.
As part of Anicira’s commitment to reducing pet overpopulation, all pets served through the pantry must have proof of spay/neuter to receive food.
The pantry primarily serves pet families in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. When possible, we also assist families from surrounding areas. With increased need in our community, we are providing more meals to more pets than ever—and community support helps make this possible.
