- Scratchpay – Simple online payment plans with high approval rates and no hidden fees. Approved in minutes—pay a portion up front and then the balance over 12-24 months, or interest-free if paid within 60 days. Your credit score isn’t affected by checking your rate.
- Varidi – An affordable, risk-free payment plan option to help you spread costs comfortably.
- CareCredit – No interest if paid within 6 months at participating providers. Application decisions are quick.

If you need more help or live outside our service area, here are other organizations that support pet parents in difficult times. These groups are not affiliated with Anicira, but are dedicated to keeping pets healthy and at home.
Crowdfunding Platforms
- Waggle: Waggle is a pet-focused crowdfunding platform that partners with vets, nonprofits, and pet families to prevent economic euthanasia. Funds go directly to veterinary care, ensuring transparency and impact.
- Free Animal Doctor is a nonprofit crowdfunding platform that ensures all donations go directly to veterinarians for an individual animal’s care. They verify every case by speaking with pet parents and vets, offering a secure, fraud-free way to help specific animals in need.
National Financial Assistance Resources for Pets
- RedRover Relief – offers financial aid, resources, and support for pet families facing economic hardship during life-threatening emergencies. Grants average $250 and help close small funding gaps for urgent care.
- The Bow Wow Buddies Foundation® is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping sick and injured dogs by funding urgent medical care and aiding with veterinary bills for serious conditions.
- The Pet Fund – provides financial aid for non-urgent, non-basic veterinary care in the U.S., covering conditions like cancer, heart disease, chronic illnesses, and eye or endocrine diseases.
- Frankie’s Friends – nonprofit that helps save pets with cancer and other life-threatening conditions.
- The Mosby Foundation – offers limited one-time financial aid for dogs. All dogs assisted must be spayed/neutered or scheduled for sterilization, with exceptions confirmed by a vet. Funding is limited and applications often exceed available resources.
- For the Love of Alex – funds emergency veterinary care for pets of low-income households.
- Brown Dog Foundation – nonprofit that helps families afford lifesaving treatment for sick pets when unexpected financial hardship stands in the way.
- Help-a-Pet – provides financial assistance for pet medical care to low-income individuals, including seniors, people with disabilities, and children of the working poor. Applicants must show proof of income and contribute what they can to share costs and extend support to more pets.
- Onyx & Breezy Foundation – funds and supports spay/neuter programs, animal rescues, medical supplies, cancer research, military and police canine care, disaster relief, shelters, and pets of individuals facing medical hardships, including veterans with PTSD.
- Paws 4 A Cure – offers financial help nationwide for dogs and cats needing treatment for illnesses or injuries, including medication, insulin, Heartworm treatment, and medical equipment. They do not cover spay/neuter, vaccinations, preventive care, routine visits, or euthanasia.
- STARelief – helps save pets and support families facing financial hardship. Their Home For Life Grant offers financial aid for routine and emergency veterinary care to eligible pet caretakers.
- Hope Mending Hearts – offers financial aid (typically $100–$200) for urgent veterinary care. Applications are online with quick review, though funding is limited and based on urgency, need, and eligibility.
- Friends & Vets Helping Pets – Grants are available to families with limited means—up to 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines—as a supplement to their resources. Applicants must show financial need.
- Pet Assistance, Inc. – aims to keep pets in their own homes, even in times of financial and medical crises.
- Animals Staying Alive Inc. provides funding for life-saving veterinary care when an animal has no identifiable caregiver or lacks financial support. Shelters, fosters, and vets can request help for animals in crisis, and the board reviews each case to approve funding when possible.
- Violet’s Friends in Need Fund offers financial help for urgent or critical veterinary care, surgeries, therapies, and mobility solutions to pet families facing high vet costs, helping prevent premature euthanasia or surrender.
California-Specific Support:
- Actors and Others for Animals – California nonprofit that promotes humane treatment of animals, focusing on reducing overpopulation through spay/neuter subsidies and helping low-income pet families care for their pets.
- San Diego Humane Society offers programs to help families keep their pets during tough times, including support for training, pet food, supplies, and veterinary care. They also provide resources for military families and those facing domestic violence or housing insecurity.
- FACE Foundation’s Save-A-Life program partners with over 200 veterinary hospitals from San Diego to Oahu to prevent economic euthanasia by helping families afford life-saving care for treatable pet conditions.
- Cause for Paws provides financial aid for pets in Southern California needing medical, surgical, or training care beyond routine services. Pets must have a diagnosis, be spayed/neutered (or medically exempt), and all funds are paid directly to the provider. Diagnosis costs are not covered, and all information is verified with the treating veterinarian.
- Orange County Animal Allies offers financial aid for low-income pet owners in Orange County, CA, facing emergency, life-threatening situations. Pledges go toward treatment costs but do not cover elective surgeries, chronic or routine care, past bills, or reimbursements.
- SAGE Compassion for Animals offers one-time grants for pets with urgent, life-threatening conditions and a good prognosis. The pet must be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Grants do not cover diagnostic tests, consultations, routine care, or past treatments.Applicants must live in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, or Sonoma County, be 18+, show financial need, and contribute to the treatment cost. Applications require documentation from your vet and proof of denied credit. If approved, funds go directly to the vet, and your story may be shared to support future fundraising.
- The Sam Simon Foundation provides free spay/neuter surgeries for pets from families earning under $40,000 per year, using a mobile clinic to serve communities across Los Angeles.
- Lexi’s Legacy provides grants to help families afford urgent or necessary veterinary care for their dogs, keeping them healthy and at home. Grants do not cover spay/neuter, dental work, preventive or ongoing care, or end-of-life services. Applications must include medical records, a photo, and a treatment estimate from your vet.

- Live Like Roo Foundation – provides support and financial assistance to families whose pet faces a cancer diagnosis
- Feline Veterinary Emergency Assistance Program – provides emergency financial help for cats and kittens with Vaccine-Associated Sarcoma (VAS). They also share caregiving experiences and practical cat care insights.
- Fetch a Cure’ Companions in Crisis fund offers financial help to families for life-saving cancer treatments, aiming to give pet parents hope and more quality time with their beloved pets.
Pet Diabetes Financial Resources
- Diabetic Cats in Need – Offers assistance programs for U.S. and Canadian cat parents struggling with the cost of diabetes treatment.
Senior Pet Financial Help
- Frosted Faces Foundation – Frosted Funding helps families facing financial hardship keep their pets healthy, focusing mainly on veterinary care for senior animals. They also assist with food, supplies, training, grooming, pet deposits, fence repairs, and impound fees
- The Keeping Pets Home program by Lionel’s Legacy supports seniors (60+) with senior pets (7+ years) who are on a fixed or limited income. Approved applicants may receive up to $500 annually, based on available funding. No emergency funding is available, and requests may take 5–7 business days to process.
Other Conditions
- The Handicapped Pets Foundation donates wheelchairs to improve the mobility and quality of life of pets with disabilities.
- The Deaf Dog Education Action Fund offers emergency medical support to help cover extraordinary veterinary costs for newly placed deaf dogs when other funding isn’t available. Approval and vet bills are required before funds are distributed.
