Petco Foundation Invests in Lifesaving Work of Anicira

Harrisonburg, VA (July 8, 2020) – Anicira announced it has been awarded a grant investment from the Petco Foundation to help reduce the number of pets entering shelters through by providing medical care for pets whose families could not otherwise afford it.

The Petco Foundation investment will help pet parents access resources such as veterinary care and pet food assistance with the goal of keeping families together. This grant allows Anicira to continue lifesaving work by helping provide a much-needed safety net by serving cats, dogs, and their families who may not have any other options for care in times of need.

“Through making  access to spay/neuter surgeries for underserved pets in our community a priority, we hope to improve the health and general well-being of pets in need of care,” said Cate Lemmond, President and CEO of Anicira.

About the Petco Foundation

At the Petco Foundation, we believe that every animal deserves to live its best life. Since 1999, we’ve invested more than $280 million in lifesaving animal welfare work to make that happen. With our more than 4,000 animal welfare partners, we inspire and empower communities to make a difference by investing in adoption and medical care programs, spay and neuter services, pet cancer research, service and therapy animals, and numerous other lifesaving initiatives. Through our Think Adoption First program, we partner with Petco stores and animal welfare organizations across the country to increase pet adoptions. So far, we’ve helped more than 6.5 million pets find their new loving families, and we’re just getting started. Visit petcofoundation.org to learn more about how you can get involved.
