Harrisonburg, VA (April 14, 2020) – Anicira is pleased to announce it has received a grant for $7,500 from the Banfield Foundation®. These funds will allow Anicira to provide veterinary care to under-served cats and dogs in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.
Anicira’s goal is to provide access to veterinary care for cats and dogs suffering from injury or illness who are not receiving care due to the family’s economic circumstances. This grant will be a positive step toward ensuring pets in our community have a chance to live a healthy life regardless of their family’s socioeconomic background.
“When access to veterinary care is limited, we know that a pet may face prolonged illness, pain or premature death. The access to care program will provide a safety net by serving cats, dogs, and their families who do not have any other options for care in a time of need,” stated Cate Lemmond, CEO and President of Anicira. “Anicira is pleased to be able to offer this program and others that protect and enhance the human-animal bond by keeping pets and their families together.”
The Banfield Foundation awards emergency grants for nonprofit organizations providing veterinary care for pets that have been impacted by COVID-19.
Anicira is committed to serving animals and our community through veterinary services, education, outreach, shelter, care and protection programs to help animals live healthy lives in a safe environment. For more information, visit Anicira.org.
