Hey Siri faced a terrifying situation when she began vomiting, refusing to eat, and losing weight rapidly. Alarmed by these symptoms, her mom rushed her beloved pet to an emergency hospital.
After a series of tests and scans, it was initially believed that Hey Siri was suffering from pyometra, a life-threatening uterine infection. The emergency surgery needed to save her life was estimated to cost between $6,000 and $10,000—an amount far beyond what her mom could afford. “I was considering having to put her down,” Hey Siri’s mom told us.
Thankfully, the emergency hospital team provided her with information about Anicira. When Hey Siri arrived at Anicira, Dr. Ayre took charge of her care. During surgery, it was discovered that Hey Siri’s symptoms were actually caused by a foreign object that had become lodged inside her. Dr. Ayre successfully removed the object, saving Hey Siri’s life. Her mom was grateful, saying, “He saved Siri’s life. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of my questions with so much care and compassion.”
Despite the successful surgery, Hey Siri’s recovery wasn’t immediate. Dr. Ayre explained that she needed to be hospitalized for a few days to ensure her condition stabilized. After two days, her mom shared with the front desk that she couldn’t afford the continued care Hey Siri required. That’s when our caring team members stepped in and offered assistance through Sashi’s Fund. This program provides financial aid for medically necessary veterinary care, allowing pet parents to access lifesaving treatments.
“It has been nothing but a blessing to have Siri cared for by the staff at Anicira,” her mom shared. “The excellent, top-notch care provided and the support from Sashi’s Fund ultimately saved her life.”
We are thrilled to report that Hey Siri is now doing well! Her mom tells us that her favorite activity is cuddling; we can only imagine she’s the best cuddle buddy ever.
