Saving Lives with Sashi’s Fund: Stinka’s Story

In December, Stinka’s mom noticed her beloved pet was acting a bit off. Stinka seemed lethargic, her appetite had decreased slightly, and she was excessively licking herself. Concerned, her mom sought veterinary care at another hospital. Despite several courses of antibiotics, Stinka’s condition did not improve. Realizing something more serious might be at play, Stinka’s mom brought her to the emergency room.

At the ER, the diagnosis was serious: Stinka had a life-threatening uterine infection known as pyometra. The situation was critical, and immediate surgery was required to save Stinka’s life. However, the estimated cost of the necessary treatment was beyond what Stinka’s family could afford.

Thankfully, the emergency room referred Stinka to Anicira, a non-profit veterinary hospital dedicated to providing accessible and affordable care. At Anicira, we were able to step in and utilize Sashi’s Fund to cover the costs of the surgery Stinka so desperately needed. The procedure was successful, and Stinka will now live a happier, healthier life.
