Sashi’s Fund Saves Ginger

In October, Ginger began urinating outside the litter box, vomiting after meals, and crying out in pain. A veterinary exam revealed he was suffering from a urinary blockage — a painful, life-threatening condition that left him unable to urinate on his own.

The only way to save him was a perineal urethrostomy (PU surgery). This delicate, lifesaving procedure creates a wider opening for urine to pass and helps prevent future blockages. For cats like Ginger, PU surgery is often the only option — but the cost was far beyond what his family could afford.

With limited options and time running out, his mom was forced to decline care. For a heartbreaking moment, she considered humane euthanasia — not because Ginger wasn’t deeply loved, but because love alone couldn’t cover the cost.

That’s when she found Anicira. Through Sashi’s Fund, we were able to cover most of the costs of Ginger’s PU surgery.

Just weeks later, Ginger is back to being himself — eating, using the litter box, and no longer in pain.

Ginger is here today because compassion met access to care. To help prevent economic euthanasia and keep families together, please consider supporting Sashi’s Fund.
