Can fleas live in human hair?

Fleas can travel with you to get to their destination (your dog or cat) but typically fleas do not live on humans. However, they can bite humans when handling a pet with fleas.

How can you get fleas off your puppy?

You can start with giving your pet a bath using dawn dish soap. You also want to make sure that you wash all bedding and blankets in your home and that you vacuum daily. You can also use an in home flea spray for your carpets to help rid any flea infestation in the home. If you do use an in-home flea spray, be sure all surfaces are dry before your pet is allowed back in the treated area. Then, you want to make sure to consistently treat your pet for fleas using an oral or topical flea product. If you are using a topical flea product you will want to wait 3 days after giving the bath to apply the product. Please consistently treat your pet each month- it will take 3 months of treatment to completely stop the flea life cycle. 

What do fleas hate?

Soap or Baking Soda: Put either the soap or baking soda in a dish of water in a container by a light that your pet can’t get to. The thirsty fleas will be attracted to the light, jump into the containers and drown.

What are some home remedies for killing fleas?

There are no scientifically proven home remedies for killing fleas. The best way to control fleas is to use a veterinary-approved flea preventative all year round for each pet in the home.

Can puppies get fleas from grass?

Yes, your dog or puppy can get fleas from the grass. Fleas jump onto an animal to feed on their blood and then as soon as they have fed they typically jump back off, which is how they can end up in your grass. Humans can carry fleas into the home on their clothing or shoes so it is important to make sure your pet is protected even if they don’t leave your yard at home.

Will apple cider vinegar kill fleas?

While Apple Cider Vinegar does not kill fleas, it may repel them because fleas dislike its smell and taste. One of the most simple ways to use this natural flea repellent is to make a solution out of equal parts apple cider vinegar and water.
