Lea Summers

Veterinary Nurse

Lea earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Organizational Leadership from James Madison University, with a minor in Nonprofit Studies and Honors Interdisciplinary Studies. She plans to further her education by attending Blue Ridge Community College Licensed Veterinary Technician program. Before joining Anicira, Lea gained hands-on experience in animal welfare through her work as an adoption and volunteer coordinator with Cat’s Cradle and as a volunteer and foster with the Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA.

Lea is passionate about helping pets and their families live happier and healthier lives together. She values being part of a nonprofit that provides a wide range of resources and support to the community. Known for her friendly and grateful nature, Lea believes in the power of small acts of kindness—like a smile—to make a difference in someone’s day.

Outside of work, Lea enjoys spending time with her six cats—Kenny, Shadow, Snow, Yeti, Andarna, and Corndog—as well as her collection of exotic pets. She also enjoys fostering cats and kittens, traveling, hiking, and relaxing with her latest Netflix show. In addition to her animal welfare work, Lea contributes to her family’s jewelry business in Timberville, Virginia.
