Heather Nokes

Veterinary Nurse

Heather has been working in veterinary medicine since 2016, with training in emergency, general, and shelter medicine. She is currently studying Veterinary Technology through Penn Foster, expecting to graduate in early 2026. In 2024, Heather earned a Master’s Certificate in Shelter Medicine, fulfilling a long-held dream since entering the field.

Heather is passionate about working in the nonprofit space, helping those who need it most. She finds great joy in watching the sickest patients thrive after receiving care, a daily reality at Anicira. She especially enjoys neonatal kitten care and dentistry, and she has a special talent for sweet-talking pets to help them feel comfortable.

When not studying to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician, Heather loves spending time with her pets, family, and friends. Her furry family includes Lana, a 9-year-old husky she rescued from an unplanned litter; Zaine, a 6-year-old gray tabby from a feral kitten trap-neuter-return community; and Zara, a 5-year-old tuxedo cat who was a foster fail.
