Fiona MacDonald

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Fiona has been dedicated to veterinary medicine since 2018, building her career primarily in emergency care. Starting as a kennel attendant and receptionist, she worked her way up to become a licensed veterinary technician after earning her Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from Blue Ridge Community College. She is also CPR BLS/ALS certified and a member of VECCS.

Fiona is passionate about client education, especially regarding preventable illnesses, dentistry, surgery, and feral population management—an area she finds particularly rewarding. She approaches each patient thoroughly, ensuring pet parents understand every step of their pet’s care and feel comfortable throughout the process.

Advocating for those without a voice and easing suffering through compassionate care drive her daily work. Fiona’s special interests include emergency and critical care, anesthesia and analgesia, dentistry, and palliative care.

Outside the clinic, Fiona and her husband are renovating a 1910 farmhouse and enjoy their hobby farm filled with coonhounds, horses, goats, chickens, and ducks. They love trail riding and hiking with their rescued dogs—Burke, Banjo, Boogie, Junior, Beaucephus, and Cassy—each with their own rescue story.
