Dr. Ruff is a proud “double Hokie,” earning her bachelor’s degree in Animal and Poultry Sciences from Virginia Tech and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in the top 10% of her class. She is also certified in Fear Free handling.
Dr. Ruff has worked in the veterinary field since high school, gaining experience as a receptionist, veterinary assistant, and kennel staff before becoming a veterinarian. This well-rounded background gives her a deep understanding of how every role in a hospital contributes to the exceptional care pets receive. During a shelter medicine rotation, she developed a passion for high-volume surgery and providing specialized care to animals who might not otherwise have access to it.
At Anicira, Dr. Ruff is dedicated to being each patient’s advocate, tailoring treatment to their unique needs, and ensuring every pet is treated as her own. She especially enjoys surgery, client education, geriatric care, and rehabilitation. A driven perfectionist with a compassionate heart, she holds herself to high standards in every aspect of her work.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Ruff enjoys traveling, camping, yoga, reading, and soaking up the sun by the water. She loves spending time with her family, friends, and her morkie, Chloe.
