Dr. Sands earned her Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from UC Davis. Inspired by an equine vet from her riding barn, she has worked in equine practice, shelter medicine, and small animal care throughout her 17-year veterinary career. Early experience as an adoption counselor at the MSPCA in Boston deepened her passion for shelter work.
Dr. Sands enjoys witnessing the human-animal bond and finds great satisfaction in surgery—especially solving problems she can see and fix—as well as managing complex medical cases. At Anicira, Dr. Sands values working alongside a talented, fun-loving team and appreciates being part of a clinic that removes barriers to care to help keep pets healthy and with their families.
Dr. Sands special interests in veterinarian medicine include surgery, dentistry, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Outside of work, she balances life with toddlers, gardening, hiking, baking babka bread, and dreaming of becoming a kite surfer. She shares her home with Selena, a rescued orange domestic shorthair cat who found her way there one day and never left.
