Dr. Akers graduated from Christopher Newport University with a Bachelor of Science in cellular, molecular, and physiological biology. She continued her studies at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
Dr. Akers enjoys collaborating closely with pets and their families to develop effective treatment plans. She is passionate about client education and believes that no one knows their pets better than their parents. At Anicira, she values the opportunity to provide both medical and surgical care to animals who might not otherwise receive it.
Outside of work, Dr. Akers is dedicated to CrossFit and homesteading with her husband, as they care for chickens, ducks, and goats. She shares her home with seven rescued orange tabby cats—Finn, Killua, Gojo, Mama, Jet, Faye, and Kenny—and three rescue dogs named Lucy, Willow, and Maple. Lucy holds a special place in her heart as the first dog Dr. Akers spayed during veterinary school.
