2026 Event Overview
Start/Finish: Friendly City Trail at Bluestone Elementary (750 Garbers Church Rd, Harrisonburg, VA 22801)
Date: Saturday, March 21,2 2026 at 9am

Join Anicira and VA Momentum for the very first Mutt Strut 5K — a community race for runners, walkers, and dogs of all shapes and sizes. Whether you’re chasing a PR or just chasing squirrels, this event is all about getting outside, having fun, and supporting a great cause. Dogs who are registered in advance receive a commemorative race bandana!
The 5K route winds through the Friendly City Trail, the perfect spot to stretch your legs (and paws). There will be multiple water stops along the route for people and pets. Expect good vibes, happy faces, and a few bonus sniffs along the course.
100% of race proceeds benefit Anicira Veterinary Center, helping provide compassionate, affordable care for pets and families in the Valley and beyond.
Important Dates
- March 9: Deadline to be guaranteed a shirt. After this date, remaining shirts will be given on a first come first served basis, based on time of registration.
- March 19: Last day to register online.
- March 20: Get your race packet early! Early packet pickup for preregistered participants will be available Friday, March 20, from 3pm–6 pm at Anicira Veterinary Center, 1992 Medical Avenue in Harrisonburg.
- March 21 (RACEDAY)
- Packet Pickup at Start Line from 7:30-8:45am.
- Walkup registration ($5 price increase) will be available.
- Race starts at 9am
- Runners will be lined up by heats, with elite runners first, followed by elite runners with dogs, followed by casual runners, walkers, families with strollers, etc.

Rain or shine, we’ll have a great time! Check the weather before you arrive, and dress accordingly.
Well-behaved and friendly dogs are welcome on a leash. No retractable leashes are allowed at the race.
While we do love all pets, we ask that you please leave your cats, ferrets, bunnies, and any other pet that may be fearful of dogs at home.
Everyone is welcome! You are not required to bring a pet.
Yes, children are welcome to enter the race. Strollers are welcome. Participants can expect staggered corral starts for runners and walkers, with strollers toward the last corral.
