Anal sacculectomy is a surgical procedure to remove one or both anal glands on a dog. Glands are typically removed due to inflammation or chronic infections.
Anal sacculectomy is a very effective procedure and will remove the glands that have chronic inflammation and infections. If inflammation from tumors is the cause then additional treatments might be needed. Due to the high amount of nerves around the rectum, never damage could be a risk. Some patients may have abnormal bowel movements immediately after surgery.
